AFC North Kilworth Women continued their impressive start to the league campaign with a commanding 4-1 victory away to Hinckley AFC Women, with Sophie Brown producing a clinical hat-trick to headline another eye-catching afternoon for Michael Stevenson's side.
On an afternoon when availability had once again stretched Kilworth's resources, the visitors showed exactly the qualities required to win away from home: attacking intent, composure in front of goal, adaptability when changes were required and enough defensive resilience to withstand Hinckley's attempts to fight their way back into the contest.
Brown was ultimately the difference.
The forward produced three finishes of contrasting quality and, alongside the creativity of Ellie-mae Spring, Laura Heffernan and Rhea Howkins, gave Kilworth a cutting edge that Hinckley struggled to contain.
The result also extended what has been an encouraging opening to the competitive campaign for a side still very much in the process of establishing its identity.
##Kilworth strike early
Stevenson set his side up in a 4-4-2, with Kilworth immediately looking to establish an attacking rhythm.
Brown was involved almost from the outset, sending an effort narrowly wide in the seventh minute as the visitors began to test the Hinckley defence.

Then, in the 41st minute, Djomo returned to the action, this time replacing Castle.

## Hinckley threaten, but Kilworth hold firm
The second half began with Hinckley showing considerably more urgency.
The hosts understood that an early goal was essential if they were to give themselves a route back into the contest, and for a spell they succeeded in forcing Kilworth to defend deeper.
Goalkeeper Megan Cox was called into action in the 53rd and 57th minutes, producing two important saves to protect Kilworth's advantage.

GAFFER'S POST-MATCH THOUGHTS
Reflecting on the 4-1 victory over Hinckley AFC Women, manager Michael Stevenson was delighted with the performance, particularly the quality of football produced during an outstanding first half.
"I thought the first half was great. It was a really, really good collective performance from everyone, and the communication between the players was excellent.
"The team really started to show some of the football that we know we can play and, importantly, the football that we want to play. We're starting to see real signs of that coming through now after the work we've put in on the training ground.
"Shak, as always, was absolutely dominant at the back. Rhea and Sophie are developing a partnership that is really starting to flourish, and in midfield Ellie-Mae was constantly finding space throughout the game. It was also really good to see Evie driving forwards, showing some great touches and putting some excellent crosses into dangerous areas.
"All together, I thought the first half was absolutely brilliant."
Stevenson acknowledged that the second half was a different proposition, with Kilworth perhaps easing off the intensity that had been so effective before the interval.
"In the second half, I'm not going to say the game was already won, because football can change very quickly, but we did take our foot off the pedal a little bit.
"What pleased me was that we still managed the game sensibly. We kept things tight and didn't allow the game to get away from us.
"It was disappointing to concede the type of goal we conceded, particularly after a bit of a goalmouth scramble, but the response from the players was brilliant.
"That's exactly what we want to see. We were fighting for every ball, really pushing, really working together, and we didn't let that goal affect us."
For Stevenson, the most encouraging aspect of the afternoon was seeing the work carried out during the opening weeks of the season beginning to translate into competitive performances.
"The signs are starting to come through now of what we've been working on over the last five or six weeks in training. That's probably the biggest positive for me.
"We're not the finished article. There are still things we need to improve and things we need to work on, but we're starting to see the identity of this team coming through.
"All in all, it was a great day for me, for the players, for the staff and for everyone who came out and watched us today.
"We're really pleased with the result, but more importantly, we're pleased with the performance and the way the players are developing.
"That's it now. We take the positives, we look at the things we can improve, and we move on to the next one."
