MATCH PREVIEW

Hinckley AFC Women v AFC North Kilworth Women Leicestershire Women & Girls Football League – Division 2 Sunday 13th September 2026 | 2:00pm Kick-Off Hinckley Rugby Club

Tomorrow sees AFC North Kilworth Women return to league action for their second-ever competitive fixture as they make the trip to Hinckley Rugby Club to face newly formed Hinckley AFC Women.

It promises to be an historic occasion for both clubs, with Sunday marking the first-ever meeting between the two sides and another new chapter in what is shaping up to be an exciting season for both teams.

KILWORTH LOOK TO BUILD ON OPENING-DAY SUCCESS Kilworth head into the fixture sitting second in Division 2 following an impressive opening-day victory on the road, beating Leicester City Ladies Development 5-0. Heffernan grabbed a hat-trick, with Howkins and Castle also getting themselves on the scoresheet as Kilworth made the perfect start to their league campaign. Hinckley AFC, meanwhile, suffered a 4-1 home defeat against a strong Market Bosworth side on the opening day. However, with both teams still finding their feet at this early stage of the season, neither result can be taken as a true indication of what Sunday may bring. Hinckley possess a number of highly regarded players, including Sinead Samarczuk, Holly Robson, Chloe Sharman and Rooxanne Kinsella, to name just a few, and Kilworth know they will have to be at their best if they are to come away with another three points.

SQUAD UPDATE Kilworth will head into the fixture with a slightly depleted squad. Manager Michael Stevenson will again be without Mia Morrow-Brown, Pigott and Kaur, while KJ Junaid, Anya Hawkins, Stuart and Amelia are also unavailable for selection this weekend. Despite the absences, Kilworth demonstrated last weekend that the strength within the squad is more than capable of stepping up when called upon, and the management team will be hoping for another strong collective performance.

STEVENSON: "WE NEED TO BE ON TOP OF OUR GAME" Manager Michael Stevenson is expecting a completely different challenge to the one his side faced on the opening day. "The squad is looking forward to this game. They have trained well over both sessions this week and worked on a lot of things we picked up from Sunday's game to improve on, and they seem to have taken this on board. "Hinckley will prove a tough challenge and a different challenge to last week. We know a lot of the players from various clubs last season and we know how well the management team set these players up to play football. "They will be well drilled and well prepared, and we need to be the same from the get-go. "Their result last week says more about how strong Market Bosworth are this season and not the level Hinckley are at. Like ourselves, they are finding their feet as a team and a collective. "We just need to make sure we are on top of our game and give our travelling supporters something to celebrate."

AN HISTORIC FIRST MEETING With this being the first competitive meeting between Hinckley AFC Women and AFC North Kilworth Women, there is an added sense of occasion surrounding Sunday's fixture. Both teams will be looking to put their opening-weekend performances behind them and establish themselves early in the Division 2 campaign. For Kilworth, the objective is clear — build on last Sunday's 5-0 victory, continue the positive momentum and return home with another three points. For Hinckley, they will be determined to respond in front of their home supporters. One thing is certain: there is nothing between these two sides historically, because history is about to be made. With both teams looking to claim maximum points, Sunday is lined up to be a fantastic contest.
