WELCOME TO AFC NORTH KILWORTH WOMEN | ALEX TAYLOR
As preparations continue for the 2026/27 season, AFC North Kilworth Women are delighted to introduce the first addition to Michael Stevenson's First Team backroom staff.
Joining the coaching team is Alex Taylor, who arrives with a unique blend of experience from working alongside professional footballers, a passion for player development and a modern approach to coaching.
We caught up with Alex to discuss his appointment, his coaching journey and what supporters can expect from him this season.
WELCOME TO AFC NORTH KILWORTH WOMEN, ALEX. HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE JOINING THE CLUB?
I'm really excited and looking forward to the season ahead. It's a fantastic opportunity to be part of an ambitious project and I'm looking forward to getting started with the players and staff.
WHAT MADE AFC NORTH KILWORTH THE RIGHT CLUB FOR YOU?
For me, it was the opportunity to take on a new challenge with people who have high ambitions. The vision for the club really stood out and it felt like the right environment to continue developing as a coach.
TELL OUR SUPPORTERS A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR COACHING JOURNEY.
Away from football, I work as a Performance Nutrition Chef, supporting professional footballers with their nutrition and meal planning.
My son plays grassroots football, which first inspired me to get involved in coaching over two years ago. Since then I've completed my UEFA C Licence and have developed a real passion for coaching. I'm now looking forward to working with senior players and continuing to develop my coaching knowledge and experience.
YOU'LL BE WORKING ALONGSIDE MANAGER MICHAEL STEVENSON AND AN EXPERIENCED COACHING TEAM. WHAT EXCITES YOU MOST?
The passion, vision and desire to help the team improve really excites me. Working alongside experienced coaches is a fantastic opportunity to learn from each other and continue developing both individually and collectively.
WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO BRING TO THE PLAYERS?
Working with professional footballers every day has given me an understanding of the standards, expectations and habits required at the highest level.
Combined with the modern coaching methods I've learned through the FA coaching pathway, I hope to bring fresh ideas, high standards and an environment where players can continue improving every week.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR COACHING STYLE?
Developing fearless players.
WHAT ARE YOUR AMBITIONS FOR THE SEASON?
Simply to do our very best, every single day, and maximise the potential of both the team and each individual player.
WHAT CAN THE PLAYERS EXPECT FROM YOU?
Players can expect honest, actionable feedback, plenty of support and someone who wants to help them improve.
I want to help create confident, expressive footballers who enjoy playing the game while being part of a calm, supportive and united team.
HOW IMPORTANT IS BUILDING A POSITIVE ENVIRONMENT?
It's hugely important.
Football is about far more than what happens on a Sunday. Creating an environment where players feel supported, valued and confident allows them to express themselves, enjoy their football and continue developing both on and off the pitch.
FINALLY, DO YOU HAVE A MESSAGE FOR THE SUPPORTERS?
UP THE KILLY!
