Introducing the latest addition to Michael Stevenson's backroom team – Coach, Les Snowdon.
AFC North Kilworth Women are delighted to welcome Les Snowdon to our coaching staff ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Les joins the club with a wealth of grassroots coaching experience, having previously enjoyed league-winning success in both boys' and girls' football. After taking a break from coaching, he now returns to the game with a renewed passion and the time to fully commit to helping develop our players and support the club's exciting new journey.
We caught up with Les to learn a little more about him.
Welcome to AFC North Kilworth! How does it feel to be joining the club?
I'm excited to be embarking on this new venture with the club. Everyone has been incredibly supportive of the management, backroom staff and players from day one, and it's a fantastic environment to be joining.
What made AFC North Kilworth the right club for you, and why did you decide to join the project?
The club is the right fit for what the team is trying to achieve. The level of support from such an established club has been excellent from the outset, and our shared values and ambitions made what could have been a difficult decision a very easy one.
Tell our supporters a little about yourself and your coaching journey so far.
I'm married to Alexandra (Alex) and we have two children, Luke, who works in logistics, and Abi, who is a doctor.
After recently retiring from a long career in the commercial property sector, I now have the opportunity to dedicate more time to football.
I've previously coached boys' teams up to Under-18 level, winning league titles on two occasions, and also coached girls' teams at Under-15 and Under-16 level, winning another league title. I'm now looking forward to returning to coaching and supporting Michael, the players and the team.
You'll be working under Michael Stevenson. What excites you most about working alongside him and the coaching team?
I first came across Michael last season when he was managing my daughter's team during some very difficult circumstances. Despite everything, his commitment, passion and enthusiasm never faltered.
When he told me he was forming a new women's team, I knew I wanted to be involved.
Michael has assembled a coaching team with a fantastic blend of experience, knowledge and different skill sets. I'm really looking forward to working alongside everyone and helping both the players and the team continue to develop. I'm sure Michael will bring the very best out of all of us.
What values and qualities do you hope to bring to the players and the club?
Throughout my career in the public sector I've always believed in respecting people as individuals, being inclusive, leading by example, sharing knowledge, taking responsibility, and always being open to new ideas and feedback. Those are exactly the same values I hope to bring to AFC North Kilworth.
How would you describe your coaching style in three words?
Calm. Considered. Practical.
What are your ambitions for yourself and the team this season?
Personally, I want to re-establish myself as an effective coach. As a team, I want to help every player continue to develop, play good football and, most importantly, enjoy what they do.
What can players expect from you on the training pitch and on matchdays?
Consistency, support, advice, guidance, enthusiasm... and probably a few bad jokes along the way!
How important is creating a positive environment on and off the pitch?
It's absolutely essential. Creating a positive environment allows players to feel supported, gives them the confidence to develop individually, and helps the team grow together as they embark on their first season.
Finally, do you have a message for the AFC North Kilworth supporters?
The players, staff and management genuinely appreciate the support shown by everyone at the club. Your encouragement motivates the team every single week, and we look forward to seeing you all throughout our first season together.
