Introducing the latest addition to Michael Stevenson's backroom team – Jeanette "Netty" Stevenson, Goalkeeping Coach.
AFC North Kilworth Women are delighted to welcome Jeanette "Netty" Stevenson as our new Goalkeeping Coach ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Netty links up with Michael Stevenson for the third time of her coaching journey alongside him, bringing with her an outstanding wealth of experience from over 30 years in women's football.
A current England Walking Football International, Netty has competed at the very highest levels of the women's game across Leicestershire and beyond. Her reputation within the local game is second to none, and alongside her playing career she has developed an excellent reputation for coaching and developing young goalkeepers.
Her appointment represents another significant addition to an already experienced coaching team as AFC North Kilworth Women continue to build for an exciting inaugural season.
We sat down with Netty to find out more about her football journey and what supporters can expect.
Welcome to AFC North Kilworth! How does it feel to be joining the club?
It is an exciting opportunity to join the club and be part of this new journey.
What made AFC North Kilworth the right club for you, and why did you decide to join the project?
It is a supportive club with excellent facilities and genuine ambition. Those qualities made it an easy decision to become involved.
Tell our supporters a little about yourself and your coaching journey so far.
I hold the FA Level 1 Coaching Certificate and, for the last four seasons, I have specialised in coaching goalkeepers aged between 9 and 18, working with both boys and girls.
Alongside my coaching, I continue to play football and proudly represent England Walking Football, allowing me to continue learning and bringing current experiences into my coaching.
You'll be working under Michael Stevenson. What excites you most about working alongside him and the coaching team?
I've worked alongside Michael for the last four seasons. He brings years of coaching experience together with incredible passion, dedication and knowledge of the game.
It will be enjoyable working alongside him and the rest of the coaching staff, bringing together different ideas and training strategies as we work towards creating a successful team.
What values and qualities do you hope to bring to the players and the club?
I want to create an environment where everyone feels valued, challenged and supported so that every player has the confidence to improve.
How would you describe your coaching style in three words?
Structured. Collaborative. Flexible.
What are your ambitions for yourself and the team this season?
Personally, I want to continue developing our goalkeepers and help them improve throughout the season.
For the team, I want every player to perform to the very best of their ability, work together as one unit and enjoy their football.
Collectively, I'd love to see us competing towards the top end of the division, aiming for a top-three finish, while also progressing as far as possible in the cup competitions.
What can players expect from you on the training pitch and on matchdays?
Players can expect positivity, respect, support and encouragement every step of the way.
How important is creating a positive environment on and off the pitch?
It's hugely important. A positive environment creates unity and a sense of belonging, builds confidence, helps retain players and attracts new ones into the club.
Finally, do you have a message for the AFC North Kilworth supporters?
